Gevan The highland cow rescue

Monday, January 13th, 2014 at 6:36 PM by CALF (Sharon) Gevan the Highlander

Our gevan blog with her antics and lovely photos starts today, we will update the blog regular for all you lovely gevan supporters

Today i pulled into the field entrance and within minute she was up and peeping out of her luxury accommodation….Gevan LOVES her field shelter that we had built for her.

How many people think that animals are “hardy” and do not need such luxury’s….Given the option the majority of animals would choose shelter from the elements.

Her little face peeps around the corner, her eyes huge, just waiting to see if it is me.

i drive down the field and out she comes to greet me.

Gevan the dancing bear…..The teddy i always wanted as a child :0)

Beyond the Fence!

Sunday, November 17th, 2013 at 11:39 AM by CALF (Sharon) Gevan the Highlander

Today as I drove by Gevan’s field i got such a shock to see that the young lady had gone beyond her electric fence as the battery must of run out and she tested the grass on the other side…Thankfully there is fence down the sides but it is not very strong, so my heart was literally in my mouth.
She had a very dirty face and was wet, i could see a pile of old broken hay bales that she had destroyed hence why her face looked grubby and she was wet as she must of been out all night in the damp rather than in her house.
She would not step back over the wire, so i ran with her up to the top of the field to make an opening, she came back into the safety of her “home”
All day she watched us as we moved the fencing, her feeder, water and covered bales ready for winter setting in…
At the end of the day i actually got to see her lay down..In the 3months of having Gevan I have never seen her laid down chewing the cud…It was lovely to see her feel relaxed and happy to be back in the safety of her “Space”. I even got to see her cute little teeth :0) as she chewed the cud.
Such a beautiful being XIMG_8986

Lady Gevan

Sunday, October 20th, 2013 at 11:38 AM by CALF (Sharon) Gevan the Highlander

Ahhhhhh lady Gevan she is a real angel….Today i felt so down after listening to the calf in the field next to my house crying out for his mum all night
So i stopped to see “gevan” on my way home, she always knows how to make me smile :0)
Theres a lady next door who has a horse that she tends and grooms and i could see her watching me as i groom my lovely moo cow…So sad that i may be considered as odd for loving a cow the way another human may love a horse….So sad that they cannot see it is themselves that are infact ODD that they can love one sentient being yet sit down and dine on the rotting remains of another.

Tonight she ate her treats and listened to me as i talked and told her the sadness i witnessed, how sorry i was that she was not a mother and she listened to me….Every now and again she would “look” right into my soul, she bowed her head in appreciation

When you love a being so much, when you see through Clear eyes with pure heart and mind, you see things and understand things like never before X

By My Side

Sunday, October 13th, 2013 at 11:38 AM by CALF (Sharon) Gevan the Highlander

Today i spent a few hours with Gevan…The little monkey has bust the back of her shed but its no big deal, i’ve called the joiner and he will have to come back and put bigger screws in, but i can see where she has been laid so she obviously loves it
IMG_7895
Today i sat in the shed and she was outside, she kept trying to get through the gap she has made to come into the shed with me, but kept getting her horns stuck, i just sat with her and talked to her, every time i looked away from her i could see her looking at me in depth, i mean really looking at me, then she would inch forward to get nearer.
Where ever i went she was by my side, walking up and down the field. I went to get into the car to go and she walked right over looking at me with such a sad look.
Each time i got back out to spend more time with her. :0)
Her puppy dog eyes work a treat.

IMG_7920
Today felt different, i could feel a sadness about her, she is my friend, she trusts me, she did so from the day i went to get her.
I look forward to the day i can build a business again i be able to borrow money to get the home where i can open my back door and she is there.
When i left her tonight i was in tears, i waited until the sun started to set and took a few last photos as she walked away from me knowing i was going…when an odd light appeared…

IMG_7934

I thought it was just the brightness of the sunset, so i changed angles, but there was a strange orb like shape that was still moving even though the camera was still. I held the camera perfectly still but could see the light shape moving and it kept moving until it reached gevan…I tried it a few times and each time the glowing light kept moving until it reached her

Adopt Gevan

Friday, October 11th, 2013 at 11:37 AM by CALF (Sharon) Gevan the Highlander

Gevan checks out her new shed and does a happy dance all around the field.
We had this shed made a few weeks ago with the last of gevans money that was raised when we rescued her, plus we had to use some of the money that was left over from vegans vet bill towards it, it cost more than we expected coming in at around £700 but its money well spent as she is worth every penny, but sadly thats all her money gone now with no reserves for the foot care that she will need throughout the rest of her life.
If you can help with a monthly donation please do, we still need to get a few bits for her to get ready for more foot care
Please use the donation link if you can spare a few pound a month or a one of donation, Gevan is also up for best friend adoption…Every penny goes to gevan

My Giant Teddy Bear

Friday, October 11th, 2013 at 11:36 AM by CALF (Sharon) Gevan the Highlander

IMG_7492
My giant teddy bear “gevan”
today she was so funny, we went to move her grazing area so that she could start to use her new shed :0) with the weather getting a bit horrid…
We had to section her in a smaller area whilst we worked on moving the electric fence.
I gave her her treats then i walked into the area that i normally put her a bale of hay for our playtime…but today the game changed as i needed her to let us get on, so i put her another bucket of treats there instead..
She came charging through like a race horse, then stopped looking all confused in mid track when she realised that there was no hay bale, just a bog black bucket….Confused she ran back to the start position, i called her and again she bolted accross the field, this time when she got to her treat bucket she head butted it with her horns like she would with the bale lol
She thought i had changed the game to a bucket instead of a bale….She was very surprised though when she realised the bucket was full of treats..
Bless her, she loves life and the fun and games we play :0)

HAY Presto

Tuesday, October 1st, 2013 at 11:34 AM by CALF (Sharon) Gevan the Highlander

I’ve not seen Gevan for a few days as i have been bookwork busy..but today i just had to go and see her..

As soon as i called her she darted her head in my direction, yet she pretended she was not bothered and got slowly to her feet, she headed my way trying to look cool and not really bothered, but i could just see the happiness in her eyes as her hair blew in the wind showing her sweet face and expression

She ate her treats all nice and calm
IMG_4674IMG_4696

She stood so still and enjoyed every minute of a good brush down

Then she transformed into a playful teddy bear, as i went to get her a bale of hay, she could not contain her excitement and start to run, knowing what was coming

IMG_4717
The HAY presto, she smashes her bale of hay in record time…Lifts her head with the look i know means RUN lol
And this is our Gevan running after me, she was buckarooing and side kicking, her hair fully blowing back to show her cheeky face lol

Morning Gevan

Tuesday, September 24th, 2013 at 11:33 AM by CALF (Sharon) Gevan the Highlander

As i drive by the field Gevan is in, i slow my car down to see if i can see her through the gaps in the hedge…Usually she is laid down, if theres no cars behind me i stop, she looks over and if im in the blue car i see her head lift as if she knows its me….I can almost see what she is thinking and within minutes of me shouting “Morning Gevan”  she is on her feet waiting for me to drive around the back.>Such a lovely feeling to see her face

I feel like i have known her forever X
